Cydonia is a
Parliamentary Democracy consisting of 90 ridings spanning the three provinces that make up Cydonia. The main parliament building is located in Bray, Labyrinthus, Cydonia. While there are fringe parties gallore in Cydonia's federal politics, these four parties are the most important.
Founded in 2230 during the third wave of immigration to Mars, this party formed in reaction to disputes regarding Cydonia's soverenty in relation to the other regions of Mars, then refered to as 'colonies.' The party is central in the political spectrum, believing in individual freedom and free enterprise, while also believing in universal healthcare and welfare systems for the less then lucky citizen of Cydonia. The current leader is Axel Lilike.
Founded in 2235 as oppostion to the Colony Coalition, this party believes that the Colony Coalition party could be 'doing more' on areas like border security and the terrorism that springs up periodically from Tharsis and Arabia Terra, as well as from Terran Sources. The Landed Alliance party is right of center on the political spectrum and have a high emphasis on production and industry. The current leader is Frum Vixi
Founded in 2356 as a result of the worker union uprising in Cydonia, this party has a pronounced distrust in the wealthy caste of Cydonia. A left of center party on the political spectrum, many of their believes are based on worker issues: improved worker rights, taxation of the rich, subsidies on things like child care and elder care, universal education at all levels not just grades one to twelve, and so forth. An international party from Earth trying to go intergalactic, the Green party has its roots from all the way in 1984, before the colonization of Mars. The Green Party of Cydonia proper was founded in 2388, and is currently the first Green Party on Mars. While it seems odd to the average Martian (nevermind Cydonian) that a party whose primary focus is the environment would ever end up on Mars, a planet that is uninhabitable without extrodinary means, the party's highly left-wing agenda focuses highly on resource sustainably and pushing a more communal lifestyle.
